After working with many hosts in the past 15 years - Apollo Hosting is WITHOUT A DOUBT by the far the worst company we have ever done business with - bot in and out of the internet world. You can say enough bad things about them: overpriced, poor service, downtime, rude & incomptent tech staff.

I am a long time Apollo Customer, Apollo Reseller, web developer and entrepreneur.
Apollo Hosting is there when you need them, late night, early morning, holidays, whenever. Apollo is there and that is nice and that's why I'm still using them after 6 years.

I had previously been jumping from one hosting company to another, in search of the perfect host. I have now had my two websites with Apollohosting for about 2 years, and I am perfectly happy with their services - the main reason for choosing Apollohosting was that they have [a premium email filter] which blocks 99.9% of all spam and virus suspect emails on their server, and I don't have to deal with them. Considering that I get around 700 spam messages per email address a day, this is a big load off my back, and my computer! But I also must say that the fact that I have not noticed any downtime of my websites at all, and they run smoothly, is also very valuable. When initially setting up my accounts, the help staff were always very helpful and kind, and since then I have not had to contact them once. I am here to stay!"

The Live Chat Tech Support is awesome and the low cost and great service is why I have been their customer for over 2 years. Apollo's web hosting needs little web knowledge for upkeep. If I can maintain a website, anyone can! Thanks Apollo!

I eventually tried 3 other providers before stumbling on Apollo. Email is extremely important in my business as our employees are all over the world and being up and running all the time is critical. I can not say enough good things about Apollo. They are always on call and always ready to help. Their network is one of the best. What they are doing is right on track. With a very in depth understanding of the industry and what is critical, I can truthfully say, they are doing a fantastic job. Customer service is one of the most critical areas for a company, and they know what they are doing. My business' success depends on the website and email, and I feel that I am in good hands with Apollo.

For the hosting cost and features offered, they are over-priced. Support is non-committal and actually unhelpful. If you want something to happen, you have to send an email..... can you imagine?

I have had email down for over 6 days with in coming up periodically. Can't even reply as it goes back down before we can get a response. We are told that the problem is fixed, yet it seems to get worse. We are losing orders and can not comunicate with our overseas vendors. This is a real issue and we are about to fire them as a hosting company.

The answer is yes and no:

Yes:

- Although their chat never can contact someone directly, you can get a hold of someone 99% of the time off hours between 10pm and 5-6am. Even on Christmas Eve. I know because I was on line with one.

- compared to other Tier-I support line contacts from 6 other hosting companies I have tried. None of them could beat Apollo Hosting's. I suspect Apollo hosting hires mostly knowledgable (not very, but good) Tier I. Their Tier I is more equivalent to Tier II or even III in most customer support structure. Most established companies have 4 tiers with tier 4 as the developers. For other companies which I have dealt with, their tier Is are the typical "taking your message down and have someone else called you back". You will be lucky if they could take down your message with meaningful input at all.

No:

- the first tier likes hacking... that means... just do enough to resolve the problem now even though the solution is blatantly only temporary. Either they have no time or enthusiasm to find out the root cause. As a result of that, problems are repetitious.

- they NEED TO RECORD CALLS, even chats, so that the next time customers call for the same problem or even different problem, they can refer back to the notes. They might insist that they did. But, they really did not. I know, as this happened to me too many times. I went through 30 minutes trouble shooting with the support. It ended up he/she told me he had to do something really quick... it. changed something at the backend. Then the problem is mysteriously gone. Great for that few days, but that was no solution. I told them "don't change anything unless they tell me first". And I DEMANDED to know what they did. Well, that didnot help. I had to be rude on the chat to get true answer.. ie. either don't know why... or server has been going thru changes.!!! Typical hush hush support answer.

- their tier I support persons are not sure what may have caused it... record the work FULLY AND EXPEDITE to the higher tier. It was literally pulling hair out experience to get them pass the issue to the next higher tier (if they have one!). It is either an ego thing, or a company policy thing, these tier I JUST REFUSED to expedite as long as they could temporarily resolve the problems. It drove me up on the wall. Besides, they are terrible in recording their work. So, next time when I talked to a different support, he/she probably think I was lying anyway.

========================
Overall, be fair to Apollo hosting.
Support is satisfactory as long as
- you only need a quick fix
- don't do anything extra, such as adding a new domain to make it as an alias, or adding new application, or making it work well with frontpage, etc.

========================
BUT, if you are going to do any of additional things, prepare for repeated problems.
