We’ve been using Hostmonster on Chewru for several months now. Support times are good, I like their $10 domains, and for the most part access times are also good. You can find discount codes for $5.95/mo, which is terrific pricing for a Cpanel host.

Average. A bit cumbersome to setup addon domains. But the support guys are pretty cool.

I’ve been with hostmonster for 18 months. For the first year they were fantastic. But, they seem to be losing their technical people, the servers are running slower and there are times when performance is poor. 15 second WordPress load times are not uncommon. I’ve also been getting a few cpu quota errors which causes all my sites to go down for a while. WordPress sites performs worse than Drupal ones.

Agree with the last review, their services are getting worse and WP load time increasing. I’ll move my sites out of HostMonster very soon.

I have no complains about them. their support is fantastic. They ware able to answer some really tricky and advanced questions that I had.

I love Hostmonster. They never let me down.

Although Hostmonster technical support is generally very good, their marketing claim of Python support is really vacuous. If you want to run a Python shell script in SSH, Python 2.3.4 is available, but HostMonster is not running server side components capable of serving python based web pages. HostMonster and sister company BlueHost have NOT configured Apache with mod_wsgi(preferred), mod_python, or mod_proxy, though mod_rewrite is present. They have effectively eliminated the possibility of running a site based on Django, Zope, Plone, Pylons, TurboGears, Grok, or web2py. When pestered to at least add mod_wsgi, they turned me down cold. They’re positioned to support PHP and they do that very effectively.

Not bad, but not good enough for serious developers.

Have been with Hostmonster for more than 3 years now. I have more than 100 add-on domains within one account and have experience no real problems. Their support is 1st class. Response times are very quick. Would recommend them to everyone in my website development field.

While Mike Landis’s comment above regarding mod_wsgi, mod_proxy, etc it correct… you can certainly run Django and other Python frameworks via FastCGI. I have been doing this for years now. The only issue is that the FastCGI process will not persist indefinitely and gets terminated every few minutes so the Python code will incur the startup cost every 5 mins or so, thus resulting in intermittent slow downs.

I am not so pleased with Hostgator. The website I host there are far toooo slow. When I posted this to the helpdesk, I had to do many things on the server settings. Things I do not know much about. So not a good hosting for me.

I have experience with hostmonster for few years and their support is quite good. Whenever I call them, I don’t need to wait for more than 2 or 3 minutes (good for me because I live in UK).

I recommend them for their services but they have increased their prices a few dollars a month since then.
