Average. A bit cumbersome to setup addon domains. But the support guys are pretty cool.
I’ve been with hostmonster for 18 months. For the first year they were fantastic. But, they seem to be losing their technical people, the servers are running slower and there are times when performance is poor. 15 second Wordpress load times are not uncommon. I’ve also been getting a few cpu quota errors which causes all my sites to go down for a while. Wordpress sites performs worse than Drupal ones.
Although Hostmonster technical support is generally very good, their marketing claim of Python support is really vacuous. If you want to run a Python shell script in SSH, Python 2.3.4 is available, but HostMonster is not running server side components capable of serving python based web pages. HostMonster and sister company BlueHost have NOT configured Apache with mod_wsgi(preferred), mod_python, or mod_proxy, though mod_rewrite is present. They have effectively eliminated the possibility of running a site based on Django, Zope, Plone, Pylons, TurboGears, Grok, or web2py. When pestered to at least add mod_wsgi, they turned me down cold. They’re positioned to support PHP and they do that very effectively.
Have been with Hostmonster for more than 3 years now. I have more than 100 add-on domains within one account and have experience no real problems. Their support is 1st class. Response times are very quick. Would recommend them to everyone in my website development field.
