StartLogic’s budget hosting plans come loaded with features — from streaming audio support to promotion tools to advertising credits at Google and Yahoo!. Their VDECK control panel makes auto-installing a variety of scripts and using their promotion tools a cinch.

1.6This Co. has absolutely no support system at all! After signing up ,I sent 4 emails in 7 days, requesting help in getting started,& never received a response. I finally got their attention when I cancelled the acct.

5I would have to disagree with the previous post. The service was exceptional and the hosting product was more than what I paid for. Very easy to use interface. Vdeck control is dummy proof.

1.8I have to say I was satisfied with the company for many months, until I actually needed support. My site was hardly ever down, everything loaded quickly, and vDeck was easy to use. FTP worked fine as well.
Then one day I received notice they were going to do a database migration for everyone and get them to use a newer version of vDeck. I scheduled my site for automatic migration and the date came and went – no migration. A week went by and I called them up – it took 45 minutes on hold before I got somebody whose job it was only to input service tickets – she didn’t know anything technical. I found out that they actually don’t let customers speak directly to tech support – it just doesn’t happen.
So she rescheduled my migration for the following day and the same thing happened – nothing. I dug deeper into their site and found that my site was stuck on the QA process. I clicked on their Live Chat 24/7 button and was placed in a queue at number 28. I sat for about an hour until I closed the window – the Queue # doesn’t update and tell you what number you are at, very frustrating.
Finally I opted for “manual migration” and performed some easy steps and hit the final button for “point DNS servers to new location” or whatever. A notification popped up saying it would take 9 hours and 43 mins to do it. So I let a whole go by and nothing changed. My vDeck is still old, the process is not complete.
So I called them again, 45 minutes and I get a similar customer service rep on the phone who knows absolutely nothing about computers. This is when I did a google search for the phrase “Startlogic sucks”. To my dismay I found a myriad of user reviews just like this one, horror stories with customer service.
The host itself is not bad, but it all goes to hell when you actually need help. Please consider somebody else. After a few hours of research I found what seems to be a good host “ICDhost.com” , the only thing is they don’t allow multiple domain hosting which I need.
So that’s my story, hopefully this helps somebody. I would say Stay away from them, there’s plenty of other places that have the same services and prices – the most IMPORTANT thing is reliability and customer services. Please look for that in a different host.

1Startlogic took my money without notifying me and then charged me $35 dollars to CANCEL my subscription!
Last week I noticed that $85 had been taken out of my bank account by Startlogic. I called to ask them why and they said it was for website hosting. The website they say they were “hosting” hadn’t been active in over a year. I don’t remember having signed up with them but with the information they had on my email address and other info, I felt that if I disputed it, I would lose.
So after about 45 minutes of trying to get them to refund the $85 dollars, I finally gave up and told them to take the damn $35 cancellation fee and give me back the rest of my money.
I did not receive any emails from Startlogic saying that my site was up for renewal and that they would be automatically taking money from my bank account. Unlike other website services that I have used, they don’t seem to think this courtesy is necessary.
I also can’t believe Startlogic charges a cancellation fee! The guy on the phone told me that it’s clearly stated in the agreement when I signed up. Although it isn’t listed ANYWHERE on there website policies. I can only assume its listed in really tiny print in some obscure place that no one ever reads.
Bottom line: DON’T give Startlogic your credit card or debit card number because they will take your money without warning you, and then they will charge you $35 to give it back. Theives!!!

1.8Yuck. I was with them for one year. Support is the pits. And why was my website so slow when it was hosted with them? They like to point their failures elsewhere with canned excuses like “It’s not us…its a backbone in (pick a state)”. Yeah, the second I moved my website to another host, I was so shocked how fast I could upload files to the other host, and how fast my website returned pages.
Here’s one of my favorites, too – “You’re not paying for an Open Source content management system…your paying for our installation” (which is automated). Eh, install Joomla or Drupal on your own and save some money. Better yet, use a different web host! LOL Oh, and if your website “just doesn’t work” ask their staff to enable PHP. It might take them 3 days, but at least they’ll get you up and running. LOL
Jeez, now that I look back on it, they WERE really crummy.
You should really avoid StartLogic. There are much better/faster hosts out there.
Also, VDECK SUCKS. There, I said that. Use a web host that uses cPanel for the sake of Al Gore. There is no reason to pay for a web host that has their own proprietary (and crappy) control panel!
